The challenge
Reporting directly out of Tally is slow and confines you to Tally's own report formats, which is why so much management reporting ends up back in Excel.
What we built
We built a connector that pulls a company's entire dataset - masters plus vouchers with their full nested ledger entries, inventory entries, bill allocations and cost-centre allocations - into a proper database, then keeps it current with a daily incremental sync. It uses Tally's own AlterID counter to fetch only what has been created or edited since the last run, so a nightly job finishes in seconds instead of re-pulling everything, and a periodic reconcile sweep flags vouchers that have been deleted in Tally. Balances are deliberately not stored but derived in SQL, so they stay correct after every sync rather than drifting. Ready-made views for trial balance, sales register, outstandings and stock movement mean Power BI, Excel, Metabase or any BI tool can be pointed at the database on day one. It is built on the standard library alone, so it packages into a single executable with nothing to install on the client's machine, and the schema ports cleanly to PostgreSQL or MySQL when data volumes justify it.
The result
Before: slow reports inside Tally. Now: nightly sync in seconds.
