The challenge
The dealership's DMS produces daily purchase and workshop-sales reports, and every invoice was being re-keyed into Tally along with the stock items it referenced.
What we built
We built a desktop tool with a four-button screen - Purchase (Parts), Purchase (Vehicles), Sales (Workshop) and Sales (AMC) - where the operator picks the DMS report and gets back two Tally-ready XML files: the vouchers themselves, and a de-duplicated stock item master covering every item on that report, so new part numbers never block an import. Ledger names, tax classifications and discount handling - including the awkward 'discount after tax' case - are driven by a plain-text configuration file the dealership edits in Notepad, so renaming a Tally master needs no code change. Supplier names that differ between the DMS and Tally are reconciled through Tally aliases rather than a mapping table nobody maintains. What was hours of daily data entry across four transaction streams - the AMC service invoice listing now converts straight into Tally vouchers like the other three - is now four clicks, and the tool has been refined through seven production versions.
The result
Before: hours of daily data entry. Now: four clicks.
