The challenge
A business that sells the same stock both over the counter and against project orders cannot tell the two apart in Tally - the sales register shows quantity and value, not which kind of sale it was, so the split was being kept in a parallel spreadsheet.
What we built
We wrote a Tally customisation that adds the classification where the billing actually happens: a switch on the sales voucher type turns the feature on company by company, and once it is on the operator picks Retail or Project on the invoice itself. The report that comes with it shows one row per sales bill with the billed quantity landing in a Retail or a Project column, filterable to either type or both, and deliberately without stock item detail so it stays readable as a management view rather than a register. The split is now captured at the point of billing by the person who knows the answer, and the parallel spreadsheet is gone.
The result
Before: parallel spreadsheet. Now: captured at billing.
